Plus a character appearing in Last Light dies in 2034, so definitely go Last Light -> 2034 as it will tell a different story set after LL, but you'll meet some characters etc. Plus the canon ending from the book is a little bit more extended, thus better and even more impactful, playing the game first might actually spoil the impact.Įven though the books and games are said to be in different universes, IMHO Last Light works great as a prequel for 2034 and it will reference what happened to a certain character in Last Light's good (canon) ending. The book for 2033 does have a few more locations than the game, so there'll still be some tension for what is and isn't in the game and how it will be presented BUT if you listen to some dialogues in the game, there will be references to some things from the book - which you wouldn't catch on their own.
